Guy Shelmerdine studied Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins in London and then went on to work professionally in advertising as an Art Director for Ground Zero in Los Angeles followed by several years working at Cliff Freeman & Partners in New York. During his time as a creative Guy worked on some of the most creatively acclaimed ad campaigns for ESPN, Fox Sports, Mikes Hard Lemonade, Coca-Cola and Nike, earning him over 20 coveted advertising awards from Cannes, D&AD, The One Show, and Clios.
Shelmerdine’s desire to stay close to the creative visual process led him to directing. He joined SMUGGLER in 2001 after winning Best New Director at Cannes in 2002 and was included in the Saatchi New Directors Showcase the same year.
Over the course of his 10-year directing career, Shelmerdine has created an impressive and eclectic body of work including commercials, music videos and short films. He has helmed award-winning spots for clients such as Mini Cooper, Ikea, Virgin Mobile, Coca-Cola, Honda, Range Rover, Skittles, VW, Chevrolet, Weetabix and Barclays Bank.
