In a continuation of Björk’s pioneering use of technology, Stonemilker, directed by Andrew Thomas Huang, explores the potential for Virtual Reality as a performance platform outside the scope of a traditional music video. The immersive experience puts the user on an Icelandic beach with Björk singing directly to them in a deeply intimate and unique performance.

Stonemilker debuted at MoMA PS1 where visitors were immersed in a panoramic view of an Icelandic landscape, while the ambient sounds of the waves flooded the space of a dedicated dome. Ten viewing stations were fitted with VR headsets allowing attendees to enter Björk’s virtual world.
